Grid United is aiming to solve the largest barrier to a more reliable and cleaner grid by developing new long haul transmission lines in the United States. Grid United is in fast-growth stage, has created a purpose-built team of motivated and entrepreneurial talent, and is looking to expand with a Controller. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced controller to implement best-in-class processes and systems at Grid United. The Controller position is in Houston, TX. Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement accounting strategies to facilitate successful implementation of Grid United’s development portfolio
  • Lead the accounting capability and plan, coordinate, and direct all accounting operations including the annual audit
  • Coordinate and manage audit practices and internal control requirements
  • Direct the general ledger close and bank reconciliation process and ensure all monthly activities are completed timely, accurately and recorded in accordance with GAAP
  • Use monthly financials to create a monthly financial view of Grid United
  • Prepare and review tax schedules and tax compliance items for Grid United’s tax returns
  • Assist with organizational cash flow forecasting
  • Assist with preparing and analyzing the annual operational budget
  • Manage the accounts payable and employee reimbursement processes including internal controls and approvals related to vendors
  • Coordinate and document compliance items for stakeholders
  • Review and manage insurance needs
  • Research, assess, and communicate accounting issues and developments with applicable impact to board and management
  • Accounting system management and integration into other processes
  • Ensure the accuracy and completeness of the monthly and quarterly financial statements through detailed review and analysis of monthly journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly financial statements and communicate results to management and the board
  • Develop and maintain procedures, policies, and internal controls to execute the above activities
  • Assist with various finance workstreams
  • Manage outsourced administrative service providers including commercial banks

Qualifications:

  • Minimum five years of Accounting or related Finance experience at a top-tier public accounting firm, private-equity backed portfolio company and/or a publicly traded company
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business, or Finance
  • Preferred, Master’s Degree in Accounting
  • Preferred, Certified Public Accountant license
  • Preferred, Infrastructure or energy project finance experience
  • Preferred, managerial experience
