Grid United is aiming to solve one of the largest barriers to a more reliable and cleaner grid by developing new long haul electric transmission lines in the United States. The organization is backed by flexible, patient capital. Grid United is in fast-growth stage, has created a purpose-built team of motivated and entrepreneurial talent, and is looking to expand with power and project finance talent. This is an exciting opportunity to help Grid United commercialize and finance the company’s innovative transmission projects. The Finance Associate position is in Houston, TX. Grid United is located in downtown Houston, and has a one-day/week work from home policy in order to support and attract the best talent. This role reports to a Finance Manager.   • Create and maintain the financial modeling for project-level forecasting, including calculating project valuations and returns, pricing a variety of revenue structures, and associated sensitivity analyses
  • Build and update the corporate financial model including projections and modeling various financing and commercial arrangements
  • Conduct deep due diligence for potential acquisitions, including thorough market analyses, transaction structuring and valuation analyses
  • Prepare investment presentations and memos regarding new investment opportunities with the opportunity to participate in management discussions around potential investments and strategic imperatives
  • Monitor and analyze market trends, regulatory developments, and industry dynamics to identify potential opportunities and risks
  • Collaborate with internal and external cross-functional team members (e.g. project developers, market and commercial analytics, land, engineering, environmental, interconnection, accounting, legal, etc.).


  • Bachelor’s degree highlighting a record of success
  • Minimum 2-3+ years prior work experience in a related financial, energy, investment banking and/or private investment role. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of experience across power and utilities investment banking and infrastructure private equity, with strong project finance modeling skills
  • Very strong quantitative skills and deep modeling experience 
  • A passion for collaborative, team-based work with a hands-on entrepreneurial approach to investing and business growth
  • Strong ambition to learn the cutting edge of the power industry and transmission development
  • Excitement to understand, model, and evaluate a variety of commercial and financial structures, including novel structures to enable the company’s innovative transmission projects
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships and work with professionals around the organization
  • Exceptional organizational skills, including the ability to multi-task efficiently with constant regard for accuracy and attention to detail
  • Detail-oriented work style with an ability to work in a high-pressure environment without sacrificing quality
  • Hard work ethic, persistence, and an ability to quickly grasp and understand new concepts including financial and legal structures
  • Excellent written and oral communication abilities
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of products (Excel, PowerPoint)
