Carl Monroe serves as an Advisor to Grid United, leveraging his more than 40 years of experience in bulk power system operations. Currently, Carl is Principal of Munro Advisors, where he consults with clients on bulk power system operations, reliability standards, wholesale energy markets, strategic planning, FERC tariffs and other areas associated with the Electric Bulk Power System.
Prior to Munro Advisors, Carl was Executive Vice President and Chief Operation Officer of Southwest Power Pool (SPP). At SPP, he oversaw operations, long-term forecasting and planning of the power system, market design, and interregional coordination. Carl’s career at SPP spanned two decades, and he was instrumental in expanding the entity’s footprint by 20% as well as $1.5 billion of transactions in the real-time energy market. Carl started in career in various engineering roles at Ameren and Entergy.
Carl has a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Auburn University and received an Advanced Management Program certificate from Harvard Business School.
